As a child, Valerie Jean Allen grew up with three aims in life: firstly, to learn as much as she could; secondly, to marry and have children; and thirdly, to travel widely. All these aims have been well realised. She studied shorthand and typing, and gained her Inter B. Com in college. In World War 2, she joined the WAAF and was trained and worked as an airborne radar mechanic. Later in life she studied English, American and European literature with the WEA, and spent many years attending a school of philosophy. She held offices in an international spiritual organisation. Married in 1950, she has brought up two sons and two daughters and has six adult grandchildren. She designed two of the matrimonial homes. Valerie has travelled extensively worldwide. However, underlying her life aims was a deep longing brought about by a painful feeling of rejection she carried in her heart from an early age. This she now sees as a blessing for it led her to search for a greater-than-human love - divine love - a search described in her first book, 'Invitation to Love'. Surrender to Love has been written to help others discover the unconditional love of the Creator for all in this beautiful universe. Valerie lives in Surrey with her husband.
