Celia Brooks Brown was born in Colorado, USA, and moved to Britain in 1989 to seek a career in the theatre. She discovered a passion for cooking while working as a life model for the artist Christiane Kubrick, wife of film director Stanley Kubrick, eventually becoming the resident cook in the Kubrick household. It was then that she decided to transfer her love of entertainment and performance into a career in food. She now runs a successful vegetarian catering company, with celebrity clients including Stella McCartney. As well as writing for magazines such as BBC Good Food magazine, she makes regular television appearances on the UK Food channel and gives live demonstrations at the world-famous Books for Cooks Cookery School. Her book New Vegetarian (Ryland, Peters & Small 2001) was hailed as 'a gem' by BBC Good Food, and is a success worldwide. Jan Baldwin is one of Britain's leading food and interiors photographers.
