Summary

Tells the story William Haslam - a life taken over by God. This book takes the reader on his journey from personal tragedy to joy as he faces the prospect of an early death, struggles with a lifeless faith, encounters apathetic congregations and deals with serious hostility from various bishops and fellow clergy.

Haslam's Journey Summary

Haslam's Journey by Chris Wright

When he preached things happened. Famously 'born again' during one of his own sermons, he later sparked off a walk-out of canons at St Paul's Cathedral while he was preaching! Moving 'down the candle' rather than up. So often, ministers start off as hard-line evangelicals but become more tolerant and open-minded as they gain seniority. Haslam started off as an 'educated' Puseyite but after conversion he became committed to soundness, social work and revival. He was a contributor to early Keswick Conventions. This book contains passages from "Yet Not I" and "From Death to Life" abridged, slightly modernised and with copious notes and appendices by the author.
