Seven chapters, ranging from furniture to pottery, porcelain and glass, are introduced by the experts from BBC1's Antiques Roadshow, who recount their own stories from the programme and point out some of their personal favourites from the hundreds of items they have valued during the series. Each chapter tells part of the story of antiques, from clocks to collectables and from bayonets to bureaux, and all the items are illustrated with photographs, whose captions provide the date of each piece and its size and auction value. There are additional details designed to assist any antiques enthusiast, whether novice or expert, and hints on collecting.
