Cyril Connollly (1903-1974) was a novelist, aesthete, wit, patron of unknown causes. In Kenneth Tynan's words, he was "intellectually, a logbook of his generation's voyages and discoveries". This is his biography. Connolly was the author of eight books, including "Enemies of Promise" and "The Unquiet Grave". For half a century he was a reviewer and critic, and the founder and editor of the magazine "Horizon". But in his own view he was a failure.
