Women In Love by D. H. Lawrence
WOMEN IN LOVE continues the story of Ursula and Gudrun Brangwen, begun in THE RAINBOW. The Brangwen sisters are now teachers in Beldover, a small town dominated by the great colliery that seems to express the full dehumanizing ugliness of industrialization. Here Ursula falls in love with Birkin - in some ways a self portarit of Lawrence - while Gudrun has a tragic and demonaic affair with Gerald, son of the colliery owner. As these four clash in thought, passion and belief, Lawrence opens up a vision of futility and detsructiveness of human relations.
