Elephant Tree Summary

Elephant Tree by Ms. Penny Dale

One snowy day two children are playing in the garden with their toy animals, one of whom, Elephant, wants to climb a tree. They all go off in search of an elephant tree. They find many trees, a bird tree, a monkey tree, a tiger tree and some bear trees, but no elephant trees. The trees turn out to be rather scarey so the children and their animals run back home, where the children make their own tree using snow, broken branches and articles of woolly clothing. Elephant is soon happily esconced. Penny Dale won the 1990 Best Books for Babies Award for "Rosie's Babies" and was commended for the 1988 Kate Greenaway Medal for "Wake Up, Mr B!". She has also written "Bet You Can't", "Ten in the Bed", "Ten out of the Bed", "All About Alice" and "Play With Alice and Laura".
