When a hare is accidentally killed while racing with a red Mini, she is laid out on a bank and covered in flowers. When the children on their way to school find the beautiful hare they take her with them to show their teacher. Knowing that the hare will have to be buried by the end of the day, the head decides to get all the children to help write the story of the hare's life and let the hare decide how it should end. About Dennis Hamley

Dennis Hamley is a former teacher who has written over 50 books for children including The War and Freddy, which was shortlisted for the Smarties Book Prize. For some time he was the English Advisor to Hertfordshire County Council and ran very innovative courses both for teachers and children. Dennis still lives in Hertfordshire and is still writing.
