Duchess by Night Summary

Duchess by Night by Eloisa James

Disguise is a dangerous game ...Tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone else have fun, widowed 27-year-old Duchess Harriet decides to do a little pleasure-seeking of her own. Where better to begin than at the house of one of the most disreputable men in the country, Lord Strange? But given the high-stakes games of lust and chance that rule Strange's household, to cross the threshold is to ruin her reputation -- so Harriet swaps her hoops and corsets for a pair of breeches and transforms herself into a young male relative of the Duke of Villiers. Before she knows it she's writing bawdy missives on behalf of a young actress, not to mention winning card games played by the most powerful men in England. And she's attracting attention from unusual places! She's come to the right place for a scandal.

Duchess by Night Reviews

'Entertaining and exciting throughout [with] enough seduction, laughter and surprises ... to satisfy even the most demanding fans of historical fiction. -- Publishers' Weekly, starred review on AN AFFAIR BEFORE CHRISTMAS 'So full of dashing cads in breeches that it's guaranteed to get me hot under the collar ... Bravo for Eloisa' -- Fiona Walker on Much Ado About You 'Romance writing does not get much better than this.' -- People Magazine on Eloisa James 'I found myself devouring the book like a dieter with a Hershey bar' -- USA Today on Eloisa James 'Great fun. I couldn't put it down!' -- Daisy Waugh on Much Ado About Nothing 'Hurrah! Romance is back in fashion. No grisly body count, no lurking serial killer. The only four-letter word is love. Choc-full of romantic heroes that would give Darcy a run for his money. Sheer joy from beginning to end.' -- Carole Matthews on Much Ado About You
