In Your Dreams: How One Man Coped When He Played the Best at Their Own Game by Ian Stafford
Writer Ian Stafford's quest to play alongside or against some of Britain's top sporting stars reveals not only the personalities of those he came up against, but also what it is about them that makes them the top in their field. Fulfilling his dreams, Stafford joined Everton on their pre-season training trip abroad before coming on as a sub in a testimonial game at Goodison Park, wrestled with Pat Roach, played for Yorkshire on their pre-season cricket tour of South Africa, played for Wigan Warriors in the traditional Boxing Day rugby league derby against St Helens, and for Leicester in rugby union (almost scoring a try in Ireland), he raced against Eddie Irvine and Johnny Herbert and sprinted against some of the world's top athletes in Birmingham.
Ian Stafford was chief sports reporter on the Mail on Sunday and now conducts weekly interviews for the Independent. The winner of several awards for his journalism, he has written four previous books including Playground of the Gods, which was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year prize.
