Celia Grant is summoned to the island of Madeira to sort out the affairs of a distant relative, Antonia Hanbury, after her sudden death. Acting as chaperone to Antonia's children, she hopes that her stay on Madeira will be a short one. But she soon encounters some very suspicious characters.
