Angel Reviews

Angels are reinvented as fierce celestial stalkers who prey on human energy in this high-octane action adventure. * The Bookseller *
...astounding. I loved every single one of the 507 pages and didn't want to put it down...intoxicating, passionate, funny, sweet, romantic, action packed and beautifully written. * Young, Wild and Read *
[Angel is] a little different from what's out there at the minute, and a definite page turner. The action will keep you gripped from start to finish. Such a roller coaster ride of emotions, from fear and hatred to love and lust. I just couldn't put it down... I can guarantee you will love this book, it has everything you would want, action, romance, compelling characters and a great twist. * Open Book Society *
A powerful, dark and hugely inventive thriller that burrows beneath the reader's skin. The charged relationship between Alex and Willow in this electrifying novel makes a lasting impression, a must read for 2010. * Jake Hope, Children's book specialist and reviewer for The Bookseller *
A story of betrayal, romance, angels and a whole new side to the world... [Angel] ticks all boxes for teenage girls! I give it a flying five stars! * Notes of No Other Purpose blog *
A thriller with a difference, this riveting read explores the conflicting emotions felt by two young people who know, with apocalyptic dread, that only by risking their lives can they save the world. * Booktrust *
An extremely compelling idea, so rich and deep and thrilling. The world of the book is dark and exciting. The characters are brilliantly drawn, the style will appeal enormously to the Twilight generation and the plot is fantastically full of suspense, drama - and romance! * Liz Kessler, Author *
Angel flies high above the hellish pack, combining a romantic rite of passage with full-on action in this exciting first part of a trilogy. The Angels are struggling to survive, and find their life source in feeding off the healthy energy of humans. To combat their pestilence, agents such as Alex are sent to search and destroy-until he meets Willow, who is part angel, part human. Their developing relationship and complementary qualities are skilfully handled and this 'manhunt' across the U.S. is packed with suspense and drama. * The Daily Mail *
Angel is a beautifully crafted novel that has your emotions as a reader on such a roller coaster from page one until the very end. Your feelings range from care, love, worry, angst, hate, loathe, fear and everything in-between. Every page leaves you craving for more, every character makes you longing to learn more about them. Every word leaves you yearning for the next. * Mar Dixon (Waterstone's reader) *
Angel is a brilliant old-fashioned love story in a contemporary setting. L.A. Weatherly has created a world full of suspense and intrigue which Stephenie Meyer could only dream about. * Children's Book Buyer, Jarrolds, Norwich *
Angel is one of those 'can't be put down books' that leaves the reader breathless at the end and longing for the publication of the next instalment. * Write Away *
Angel is the first novel in a stunning new trilogy by L. A. Weatherly. It switches effortlessly between fast-paced action-adventure and heart-stopping romance. Mizz says check it out! * Mizz *
Full of suspense and beautifully written. * The Sun *
Beautifully written, pacy and action-filled, as well as unfolding such a soulful and tender romance that no girl who reads it is going to want to be with anyone who doesn't live up to the gorgeous (outside and in) Alex. * Kelly Mckain *
Forget about vampires, it's all about angels!!! This is an excellent novel, with a fantastic pace and great characters, plus a concept that is hard to get out of your head once it gets lodged in there. Be warned though, if you read it too quickly (like I did) you'll just find yourself painfully anticipating the next instalment for even longer, * Nicole Burstein, Waterstone's Piccadilly *
From the opening chapter, I was gripped. From the start, I liked the main characters, Alex and Willow and found them both to be totally believable. As the road trip story progresses, the adventure and tension builds, along with their relationship with each other. It all moves at a good pace, and every chapter leaves you wanting more. Both the romance and the action are interwoven brilliantly, as neither one overshadows the other and both are entirely relevant to the storyline as a whole. I found the writing really brought the tale to life, as it was as vivid and clear in my mind's eye to me as if I'd watched it as a film. * Bookbabblers *
If Eoin Colfer reinvented the fairy and Stephenie Meyer reinvented the vampire then without a doubt L.A. Weatherly has reinvented the angel in this powerful, dark and hugely suspenseful novel that switches effortlessly between fast-paced action adventure and heart-stopping romance...This is the first in a compelling and utterly mesmerising paranormal romance trilogy from a writer to watch. * LoveReading4Kids *
I can guarantee you will love this book, it has everything you would want, action, romance, compelling characters and a great twist. * Susan K,. Mann (Waterstone's reader) *
I just could NOT put [Angel] down. It definitely rates up there with the Twilight series, and in my opinion is actually much better written and the fact you get the book in both the main characters perspectives makes it much more interesting. * Sian Louise (Amazon Vine reviewer) *
I love how the book is so different to others in its genre, when reading books that are about the same thing, e.g. Hush Hush and Fallen, you can easily get bored as it sometimes feels like you are re-reading the same story but wrote in a different way. You will not get that feeling with this book. It is so unique and one of the best reads I have read all year...I loved every moment of this book, and it's a highly addictive start to what's looking up to being an amazing series, one that I will be rushing to the bookstore to get as soon as it is released. * K-Books blog *
If Eoin Colfer reinvented the fairy and Stephenie Meyer reinvented the vampire then without a doubt L.A. Weatherly has reinvented the angel in this powerful, dark and hugely suspenseful novel. * LoveReading4Kids *
Packed with suspense and drama. * The Daily Mail *
L.A. Weatherley has turned convention on its head. [Angel is] a fast-paced mix of action and romance, with an added dose of the paranormal, which had me totally hooked. * Mad House Family Reviews *
The analogy with vampire-fiction is obvious and will appeal to fans of the genre, but the angelic predators provide an excellent twist, blending together perceptions of dark and light. * Books for Keeps *
Suspense, drama and romance, Angel has it all. * Reading Force 2011 *
The first of L A Weatherly's thrilling and much-anticipated teen trilogy is a celestial stunner, daring to clip the wings of the current angel cult and delivering something much more deliciously devilish. Weatherly weaves a dark, atmospheric and addictive story full of epic adventure and spine-tingling suspense, and then spices it up with a heart-stopping romance that unfurls as gently as a good angel's wings. A fantastical flight of imagination that is heaven-sent for teenagers... * The Lancashire Evening Post *
The strongest in a crowded field of paranormal romance. * The National Literacy Trust *
The tag line The only good angel is a dead angel will tempt readers to pick up this book and once they start reading, they won't want to stop... Skillfully mixing excitement and adventure with romance, the narration is split between Willow's POV and a third party narrator focusing on Alex, her rescuer. This allows each character's voice and personality to develop as the shocking truth of Willow's heritage is uncovered. * Carousel magazine *
The young adult market is abundant with angel books right now, some great, some not so, but if you want one that has everything you need for a truly great read, then check this one out. It has a stunning storyline with intricate plot twists, lots of action and adventure, a great road trip and a swoon worthy romance to boot! ...This book has major crossover appeal, and I hope it's going to be a big hit. It certainly deserves to be. * Daisy Chain Book Reviews *
This book just made me want to keep reading and reading. * Teen Titles *
When I think about Angel, I want to quote the all the thesaurus' in the world with the synonyms of epic, but I know there's lots of different meanings for that so...how about BLOODY AMAZING?! Angel is a beautifully crafted, intense and creative paranormal romance that is just the beginning of a stunning new trilogy from a writer you definitely want to watch. Weatherly's writing is like a dream - just too good to be true. * LoveReadingx *
