The new NVQ in Beauty Therapy level 1 is introduced in 2004, and Thomson Learning's new Beauty Basics is designed to provide students with a textbook for this course. Level 1 aims to provide the student with the information to be able to assist the beauty therapist within the salon, and focuses on Health and Safety, Contributing to salon reception duties, Prepare and maintain the beauty therapy work area, Provide Facial treatments, and Provide Nail treatments on the hands. Lorraine Nordmann's Beauty Basics follows the same structure in order to provide students with a clear introduction to the beauty industry. This text is aimed at those new to the beauty industry by motivating and preparing them to succeed in their studies and their careers.
