Months later, she walks down from the mountains into Santa Fe, and into the life of fourteen-year-old Mary Dark Hope. They begin to realise the only way she will be free is to find the man who abducted her. In a succession of fast-moving episodes they move towards the inevitable and harrowing confrontation.
