Bible Reading: A Beginner's Guide by Michael Green

This is a short, inexpensive guide to help people begin reading the Bible. It is ideal resource for new Christians and those 'graduating' from Alpha and Christianity Explored courses. Author of this title is an internationally known and best selling Bible teacher. It is published in a pair with Prayer - a beginner's guide. It is first published as Bible Reading for Amateurs (Hodder, 1999), part of the For Amateurs series (author as series ed); now revised and updated. It is suitable for: church leaders buying it for people 'graduating' from Alpha courses and enquiring about first steps of faith; friends buying it for seekers and new Christians Confirmation gift; and, those looking for a guide to beginning Bible reading.

Bible Reading Reviews

Michael Green's Bible Reading - a beginner's guide is a wonderful help to anyone trying to make daily scripture devotions part of their everyday walk with God. He poses the questions that a new Christian would ask about bible reading such as 'How can I begin?' and 'How can I avoid getting stale?', then provides researched, yet practical, guidance to encourage the reader to jump in and get started. Dr. Green doesn't provide a cookie-cutter formula for reading the Bible, but rather simply and clearly shares things you should know, things you should consider, and things you should do to get to know God Himself through the pages of His love letter to all humankind - the Bible! I particularly recommend this book to Alpha Course guests or graduates who may still have questions about the Bible's history, make up, or relevance to people today, but who usually are quite eager to get on with deepening their new life in Christ. Dr. Green offers several ways to approach daily bible reading, but leaves it to the readers to decide which approach works best for them. For anyone who is ready to make a new or renewed commitment to reading the Bible, Bible Reading - a beginner's guide is a great aide to getting off to a good start.
