This historical novel is set in 14th-century Scotland , when Robert the Bruce's son, the child king, is threatened by Edward III of England. He is defended by Sir William Douglas, the Flower of Chivalry, and his comrade-in-arms Sir Alexander Ramsay. The author has written other several historical novels set in Scotland including Columba and a trilogy on the reign of James V: The Riven Realm,James by the Grace of God and Rough Wooing.
