About Richard Walker

Richard Walker is an award-winning author who has written many books for all age groups in the areas of natural history, human biology and science. He has a BSc and PhD in zoology, and he spent several years teaching biology and science in London schools before becoming a full-time writer. Richard won the 2002 Aventis Prize for Science Books Junior Prize. Steve Jones is Professor of Genetics at the Galton Laboratory of University College London. He is the high-profile author of best-selling popular science titles The Language of Genes (1993), In the Blood (1995), Almost Like a Whale: The Origin of Species Updated (1999, published in the US as Darwin's Ghost, 2000) and Y: The Descent of Men (2002). He regularly appears on radio and television and has a strong commitment to education.
