The Way of Holiness: Monastic Wisdom for Ordinary People by Robert Van De Weyer
For 2000 years, Christian monks have been living the original "green" lifestyle based upon their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. This book looks at the ways in which monastic teaching and practice can guide our own lives to make them simpler, less extravagant and healthier. There are three sections to the book, based upon each of the vows. "Poverty" deals with our material needs, "Chastity" with our relationships and "Obedience" with our spiritual lives. In each section, ten topics are discussed. These include money, food, cooking, home, work, clothes, health, fidelity, celibacy, sex, honesty, forgiveness, children, age , hospitality, prayer, worship, belief, study, confession, sleep, holidays and death. The book is designed for believers and non-believers alike.
