For 2000 years, Christian monks have been living the original green lifestyle based upon their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. This book looks at the ways in which monastic teaching and practice can guide our own lives to make them simpler, less extravagant and healthier. There are three sections to the book, based upon each of the vows. Poverty deals with our material needs, Chastity with our relationships and Obedience with our spiritual lives. These include money, food, cooking, home, work, clothes, health, fidelity, celibacy, sex, honesty, forgiveness, children, age , hospitality, prayer, worship, belief, study, confession, sleep, holidays and death. The book is designed for believers and non-believers alike.
