This book is brightly coloured, well illustrated with good photography and great step-by-step instructions. In fact, I really wanted to start to make some of the projects right away. Aimed at young teenage girls with easy to make projects such as book covers, bags, scarves and boxes all incorporating the batik method. There's also a little history on batik and information on useful websites and more books to read.

There are step-by-step photographs, easy to follow instructions, simple techniques and lots of creative ideas. It's definitely one to share with teenagers.

The illustrations, photography and numbered instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow and each project contains a list of the required materials. There are four quick and easy Batik projects using wax and dye to decorate scarves, wall hangings, bracelets, bags and books. Seven Patchwork projects including a pet's quilt, a pin cushion, a belt, a pillow and a bag are all funky, stylish and fun.

Originally from Scotland, Rosi lives in Sussex, England, but spends her summers in Nova Scotia, Canada. She majored in History at Vassar College, New York, USA, then taught art for over forty years and was Head of Art at Cumnor House School, Sussex for the last twenty-eight years. She retired from full-time teaching in 2013 and now lectures, gives workshops and exhibits her figurative batik paintings throughout the UK and abroad.
Rosi has exhibited in Britain, Europe, USA, Canada, Japan and China and has travelled widely in Indonesia and Sri Lanka. She has written three books on batik, produced a DVD, had articles published in various magazines including the International Artist Magazine and has a seven-minute film on YouTube.
