About Sheena Knowles

Born in Geelong, Victoria, Sheena is the author of the popular picture book EDWARD THE EMU which was illustrated by Rod Clement, and shortlisted for the 1989 Australian Children's Picture Book of the Year. A companion title, EDWINA THE EMU, was published in 1997. EDWARD THE EMU was selected for Australia's 2001 National Simultaneous Storytime. Following a successful career in advertising, Sheena has fostered children, worked with multicultural communities in Geelong, cared for young asylum seekers living in community detention and most recently, helped people with disabilities to stay in their own homes. Sheena lives in Point Lonsdale, Victoria. Rod Clement is a renowned author, illustrator and cartoonist. He has written and illustrated Grandad's Teeth , Just Another Ordinary Day and Feathers for Phoebe, and illustrated Edward the Emu and Edwina the Emu, both written by Sheena Knowles. He is also the cartoonist for several Australian newspapers. He lives in Sydney, Australia.
