Summary

First, forget everything you've heard. Robin Hood was no prince, and he was no dispossessed lord. He didn't fight in the Crusades. He never gave a penny to the poor. In fact, of all those Sherwood legends, only one holds true: Robin Hood didn't see with his eyes, he was the only one who saw clearly in this place of illusion and lies.

Shadow of the Wolf Summary

Shadow of the Wolf by Tim Hall

A world of gods and monsters. An elemental power, rising. This is Robin Hood, reborn, as he has never been seen before . . . Robin Loxley is seven years old when his parents disappear without trace. Years later the great love of his life, Marian, is also taken from him. Driven by these mysteries, and this anguish, Robin follows a darkening path into the ancient heart of Sherwood Forest. What he encounters there will leave him transformed, and will alter forever the legend of Robin Hood . . .

Shadow of the Wolf Reviews

Astonishingly good. (5 out of 5) * The Sun *
In recreating the Robin Hood story, Tim Hall has produced an original, savage, powerful and incredibly moving story. He captures the harshness and darkness of the ancient woodland so vividly, it is like the author himself has slid back in time. Robin and Marian are like you have never seen, and I am sure this novel will grip anyone who reads it, as it thoroughly gripped me * Jilly Cooper *
My favourite YA book of 2014 (so far and I can't imagine anyone topping it). I thought this was going to be a YA fantasy book but I'm not sure what it is, which is why I love it. Beautiful writing, a stunning mix of action and mystical folklore. A brilliant story * Sally Green, author of Half Bad *

About Tim Hall

In his work as a journalist, Tim Hall has written for various national newspapers and magazines. Most recently he spent two years in Bermuda, reporting for the Bermuda Sun. He has travelled widely in other parts of the world, including Asia and South America. He now lives in Gloucestershire with his wife and their daughter. He was born in Portishead, near Bristol, in 1977. His first novel, Shadow of the Wolf, is the beginning of a planned trilogy. Of the inspiration behind Shadow of the Wolf, Tim says: 'Several years ago, I ventured into the Amazon Rainforest. It was in that awesome, primal place that I first began reimagining Sherwood, and picturing the elemental outlaw who haunted its depths. It gradually became clear to me that Robin Hood is the forest, indivisible from the savage earth. This thinking led the story down a particularly dark path, from where there was no looking back . . .'
