Insider Guides are written by visitors as well as local people in any given area. This book provides a guide for the tourist in Galway and Clare. The region is divided into three principal areas - Connemara including the Aran Islands, Galway city and Co. Clare (with an emphasis on the Burren). Within each sub-region the book describes the history, archaeology and antiquities of the area and includes cycle tours, walking holidays as well as ecotours designed to appeal to the environmentally aware. There is also a good beach guide, suggestions for amusing children on rainy days as well as guides to shopping, sports and other leisure activities. Guides to local antiquities and national monuments are also included in addition to an accommodation guide that lists hotels, campsites, youth hostels and other forms of officially registered accommodation.
