It have since developed into a broad, many-faceted programme that attempts to resolve basic problems in physics by encoding the structure of physical fields and indeed space-time itself into the complex analytic geometry of twistor space.
Twistor theory has important applications in diverse areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. These include powerful techniques for the solution of nonlinear equations, in particular the self-duality equations both for the Yang-Mills and the Einstein equations, new approaches to the representation theory of Lie groups, and the quasi-local definition of mass in general relativity, to name but a few.
This volume and its companions comprise an abundance of new material, including an extensive collection of Twistor Newsletter articles written over a period of 15 years. These trace the development of the twistor programme and its applications over that period and offer an overview on the current status of various aspects of that programme. The articles have been written in an informal and easy-to-read style and have been arranged by the editors into chapter supplemented by detailed introductions, making each volume self-contained and accessible to graduate students and nonspecialists from other fields.
Volume I explores applications of flat twistor space to nonlinear problems. It contains articles on integrable or soluble nonlinear equations, conformal differential geometry, various aspects of general relativity, and the development of Penrose's quasi-local mass construction.
The first Ballard Street cartoon collection, with cartoonist Jerry Van Amerongen (previously of The Neighborhood) creating an assortment of panels.
This book was originally a collection of autobiographical short stories but I decided to turn it into a memoir novella. It does stand on its own two feet as a single work but it can be read as a collection of short stories. Memoirs of Love can be broken down into three parts. The first part of this book is about my youth. Most of these stories were written as a young man. These stories are memoirs of love based on youthful adventures with my grandfather, other family members and friends. The second part: At Summer's End is a conventional love story between a young man and a young lady. The last part of the book focuses on the first couple of years I lived abroad. It is incomplete and I left out details because I will write about this section in detail in a full length novel that I am still writing. In fact this entire book with the exception of At Summers' End is a sketch of an unfinished work. I wrote this novella so that I could introduce my full length novel-memoir to my readers. The story At Summers' End which is the subtitle of my novella is the only story that's complete. However, I leave out some minutiae for a full length novel of the story mentioned above.
This first volume, of a three-volume set, covers the history, development and production history of the Tiger tank variants from the idea's conception to the end of Tiger I production. This includes details on the development series known as the D.W., VK 30.01(H), VK 30.01(P), VK 36.01(H), VK 45.01(P) as well as the Tiger I. All of this illustrated with scale drawings by Hilary L. Doyle, combined with drawings, sketches, and photographs depicting external modifications as well as internal views. Over thirty years of intensive research went into finding the original documents needed to create this history of the development, characteristics, and tactical capabilities of the Tiger. An exhaustive search was made for surviving records of the design/assembly firms (including Krupp, Henschel, Porsche, and Wegmann), the Heereswaffenamt, the Generalinspekteur der Panzertruppen, the D656 series of manuals on the Tiger, and the war diaries with their supporting reports from German army units. This is supplemented by the authors' collecting hundreds of photos and climbing over, under, around, and through nearly every surviving Tiger I.
Cartoonist Jerry Van Amerongen is an intellectual cartoonist with a loopy sense of humor and a richly subtle drawing style.

In Minnows in the Bath, Van Amerongen gathers together his best canine cartoons. Along with Gary Larson's THE FAR SIDE, it redefined the single panel gag cartoon with short bursts of sophisticated and surreal humor. Van Amerongen introduced BALARD STRET in 1991 . . . a rich continuation of his singular humor. Jerry Van Amerongen's cartoons have been in continuous syndication for over 26 years. Countless greeting cards, calendars, many other licensed products, and now the Internet have created a large and loyal following over the years. Jerry was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He spent the first 17 years of his professional life in corporate sales, marketing, and product management, coming to cartooning at age 40. Van Amerongen's boyhood memories were shaped by the ethnic influences of his Dutch and Polish heritage, images of roly-poly women in large print dresses and rotund men in baggy trousers.
The very best of Ballard Street as selected by its creator from 2010 to March 2019, the date of its retirement.
