This clash of genres-aspects of historical science fiction, with some contemporary fiction thrown in-begins with a controversial exorcism during a hurricane in the jungles of Central America. Joshua, a controversial priest, whose ideas about exorcism are not well accepted by authorities in the Catholic Church, finds himself caught up in way more drama than anticipated as the exorcism goes haywire. Subsequently he is rescued by a group of people led by Teryk, an excommunicated priest and exorcist. Teryk has experienced drama of his own in missing time and vivid memories of a life as Judas Iscariot during the time of Jesus' crucifixion. A host of characters in this underground high-tech society come together to analyze and set out to prove or disprove what Teryk reveals about that trip in time. Many will question the 20 years of research that went into this book and many will be offended. However, the astute, open-minded reader will find much to ponder. What if the stories found in the Old Testament are actually a retelling of events that occurred much, much earlier? Perhaps, as far back as 12,000 years. The newly discovered pyramids and cities, covered by both earth and oceans, certainly seem to date back, at least, that far. So what if: -More than a dozen demi-gods had already been born of virgin mothers, on the night of the Winter Solstice before Jesus' birth. All were said to work miracles, and they were all betrayed, crucified and entombed-only to resurrect days later -Ancient Middle Eastern historians, recorded that during the Spring Equinox of 31 AD-the date of the Crucifixion-a solar eclipse occurred. -Then within hours there was a blood-red lunar eclipse. -Both eclipses were totally unexpected and accompanied by massive earthquakes. -Did Jesus have an identical twin brother? Why shouldn't truth be stranger than fiction? Fiction, after all, has to make sense. -Mark Twain","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49583096103185,"sku":"GOR009070402","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50374413025553,"sku":"CIN0985442662G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/0985442662.jpg?v=1750748611"},{"product_id":"metallic-dreams-book-mark-rice-9781446150887","title":"Metallic Dreams","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":50325974974737,"sku":"GOR005109605","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1446150887.jpg?v=1750988095"},{"product_id":"making-machu-picchu-book-mark-rice-9781469643533","title":"Making Machu Picchu","description":"Speaking at a 1913 National Geographic Society gala, Hiram Bingham III, the American explorer celebrated for finding the \"\"lost city\"\" of the Andes two years earlier, suggested that Machu Picchu \"\"is an awful name, but it is well worth remembering.\"\" Millions of travelers have since followed Bingham's advice. In Through the Lens of the City: NEA Photography Surveys of the 1970s, Mark Rice brings to light this long-neglected photographic endeavor. From 1976 to 1981, the NEA supported more than seventy projects that examined a wide range of people and places in America. Artists involved included such well known photographers as Bruce Davidson, Lee Friedlander, and Joel Meyerowitz and many photographers who became widely known after their work with the surveys, such as Robert Adams, Joe Deal, Terry Evans, and Wendy Ewald. Rice argues that the NEA Photographic Surveys drew from two wells: a widespread sense of nostalgia and an intense public interest in photography. Looking at the works from eight key cities-Atlanta, Buffalo, Durham, East Baltimore, Galveston, Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Venice-the book uncovers marked differences as well as startling similarities in the concerns manifested by different photographers in far-flung places. Although the surveys are interesting both for their artistic merits and for their place in the history of American photography, they are equally important as a documentation of bicentennial-era America and a close examination of American cities. A major shift in the ideals of civil engineering and urban planning was underway in the 1970s. At the same time, ideas and theories about photography were changing along with our notions of what the city could and should be. These surveys, capturing American cities in a fascinating period of flux, show us American photographers matching artistry to subject matter in new and exciting ways. Mark Rice is chair of the American studies department at St. John Fisher College. His work has been published in such periodicals as Exposure, Explore, and Reviews in American History.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50785619542289,"sku":"CIN1578067073VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51407425863953,"sku":"GOR014261877","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1578067073.jpg?v=1763478288"},{"product_id":"manliness-of-peanut-butter-and-jelly-book-mark-rice-9781304688156","title":"The Manliness of Peanut Butter and Jelly","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51080125153553,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51080125907217,"sku":"NIN9781304688156","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1304688151.jpg?v=1750921577"},{"product_id":"murder-on-board-book-mark-rice-9781709563553","title":"Murder On Board","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51209629073681,"sku":"NIN9781709563553","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52102169133329,"sku":"GOR014489798","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1709563559.jpg?v=1751121872"},{"product_id":"making-machu-picchu-book-mark-rice-9781469643526","title":"Making Machu Picchu","description":"Speaking at a 1913 National Geographic Society gala, Hiram Bingham III, the American explorer celebrated for finding the \"\"lost city\"\" of the Andes two years earlier, suggested that Machu Picchu \"\"is an awful name, but it is well worth remembering.\"\" Millions of travelers have since followed Bingham's advice.
