Vardy, University of Houston \"Most students have very little or no background [in this subject area], so Clark’s work is great to introduce students to intelligence and the analytical disciplines . . . a really excellent book that fills a gaping hole in the public literature and is of genuinely great value to both students and practitioners.\" —Carl A. Wege, Professor Emeritus, College of Coastal Georgia Bridging the divide between theory and practice, Deception: Counterdeception and Counterintelligence provides a thorough overview of the principles of deception and its uses in intelligence operations. This masterful guide focuses on practical training in deception for both operational planners and intelligence analysts using a case-based approach. Authors Robert M. Clark and William L. Mitchell draw from years of professional experience to offer a fresh approach to the roles played by information technologies such as social media. By reading and working through the exercises in this text, operations planners will learn how to build and conduct a deception campaign, and intelligence analysts will develop the ability to recognize deception and support deception campaigns.        Key Features New channels for deception, such as social media, are explored to show readers how to conduct and detect deception activities through information technology. Multichannel deception across the political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, and information domains provides readers with insight into the variety of ways deception can be used as an instrument for gaining advantage in conflict. Contemporary and historical cases simulate real-world raw intelligence and provide readers with opportunities to use theory to create a successful deception operation. A series of practical exercises encourages students to think critically about each situation. The exercises have several possible answers, and conflicting raw material is designed to lead readers to different answers depending on how the reader evaluates the material. Individual and team assignments offer instructors the flexibility to proceed through the exercises in any order and assign exercises based on what works best for the classroom setup.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49794422898961,"sku":"CIN1506375235G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52454790103313,"sku":"NLS9781506375236","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52749755941137,"sku":"NIN9781506375236","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1506375235.jpg?v=1751085784"},{"product_id":"intelligence-collection-book-robert-m-clark-9781452271859","title":"Intelligence Collection","description":"This comprehensive book by one of the foremost authorities in the field offers systematic and analytical coverage of the how and why of intelligence collection across its three major stages--the front end (planning), collection, and the back end (processing, exploitation, and dissemination). The book provides a fresh, logical, and easily understandable view of complex collection systems used worldwide. Its ground-breaking organizational approach facilitates understanding and cross-INT collaboration, highlighting the similarities and differences among the collection INTs. The first part of the book explains how the literal INTs--open source, human intelligence, communications intelligence, and cyber collection--work. The second part focuses on nonliteral or technical INTs including imagery, electronic intelligence, and measurements and signatures intelligence. All chapters use a common format based on systems analysis methodology, detailing function, process, and structure of the collection disciplines. The third part is a complete chapter discussing the complexities of collection management in the United States. Rich, full color illustrations accompany the text with examples throughout the book on topics as diverse as battlespace situational awareness, terrorism, weapons proliferation, criminal networks, treaty monitoring, and identity intelligence.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49863974945041,"sku":"CIN1452271852G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ WELL_READ \/ SBYB","offer_id":49966904901905,"sku":"CIN1452271852A","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51491093053713,"sku":"GOR012485549","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":51697420075281,"sku":"CIN1452271852VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1452271852.jpg?v=1751053045"},{"product_id":"intelligence-analysis-book-robert-m-clark-9781452206127","title":"Intelligence Analysis","description":"Accounting for the ever changing intelligence landscape, the author explains that a collaborative, target-centric approach allows for more effective analysis, while better meeting customer needs.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49875312214289,"sku":"CIN1452206120G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49891686646033,"sku":"CIN1452206120VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/1452206120.jpg?v=1750988443"},{"product_id":"intelligence-analysis-book-robert-m-clark-9781568028309","title":"Intelligence Analysis","description":"For years intelligence analysis has followed a decision-making process that is hierarchical in nature and linear in flow, wherein analysts are insulated from valuable and critical feedback. It's a model that no longer makes sense for today's world. Analysts in all fields work in an environment dramatically changed by technology and greatly impacted by new, politically-charged considerations. A flatter, horizontal, networked solution has proven to be much more effective. In his ground-breaking book, Dr. Robert Clark addresses this crucial shift in focus with clear, straightforward instructions on the advantages of a collaborative, target-centric process that fully attends to the needs of the customer. Designed to give analysts and practitioners state-of-the-art, practical information and skills, Intelligence Analysis guides readers through the art of target modeling and organizational analysis, as well as quantitative and predictive techniques. Intelligence collectors, consumers, and analysts can and should work together to create and share a conceptual model of the intelligence target. Simply put, it's a smarter, more sensible way to collect, synthesize, and utilize intelligence. The author makes extensive use of real-world examples and cases and employs nearly 100 graphic elements to illustrate the versatility and effectiveness of his methodology. A good read, a handy reference source, and a proven toolkit, practitioners in both industry and academia should not miss the opportunity to do intelligence in a more intelligent manner.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":49940085080337,"sku":"CIN156802830XG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/156802830X.jpg?v=1751341792"},{"product_id":"intelligence-analysis-book-robert-m-clark-9781604265439","title":"Intelligence Analysis","description":"As America′s enemies have changed and evolved, the American intelligence community has been forced to find more effective methods of managing intelligence analysis. Drones, the Internet of things, and cellular devices transform how we gather information and how others can collect that information, to our benefit or detriment.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52530423529745,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52530424086801,"sku":"NLS9781647120108","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781647120108.jpg?v=1760652634"},{"product_id":"securing-water-and-wastewater-systems-book-robert-m-clark-9783319344461","title":"Securing Water and Wastewater Systems","description":"Urban water and wastewater systems have an inherent vulnerability to both manmade and natural threats and disasters including droughts, earthquakes and terrorist attacks.  It is well established that natural disasters including major storms, such as hurricanes and flooding, can effect water supply security and integrity.  Earthquakes and terrorist attacks have many characteristics in common because they are almost impossible to predict and can cause major devastation and confusion.  Terrorism is also a major threat to water security and recent attention has turned to the potential that these attacks have for disrupting urban water supplies. There is a need to introduce the related concept of Integrated Water Resources Management which emphasizes linkages between land-use change and hydrological systems, between ecosystems and human health, and between political and scientific aspects of water management. An expanded water security agenda should include a conceptual focus on vulnerability, risk, and resilience; an emphasis on threats, shocks, and tipping points; and a related emphasis on adaptive management given limited predictability. Internationally, concerns about water have often taken a different focus and there is also a growing awareness, including in the US, that water security should include issues related to quantity, climate change, and biodiversity impacts, in addition to terrorism. This presents contributions from a group of internationally recognized experts that attempt to address the four areas listed above and includes suggestions as to how to deal with related problems.  It also addresses the new and potentially growing issue of cyber attacks against water and waste water infrastructure including descriptions of actual attacks, making it of interest to scholars and policy-makers concerned with protecting the water supply.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52541818142993,"sku":"NLS9783319344461","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783319344461.jpg?v=1760688242"},{"product_id":"cyber-physical-security-book-robert-m-clark-9783319328225","title":"Cyber-Physical Security","description":"This book focuses on the vulnerabilities of state and local services to cyber-threats and suggests possible protective action that might be taken against such threats.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52587933565201,"sku":"NLS9783319328225","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ VERY_GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":52692368458001,"sku":"CIN3319328220VG","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783319328225.jpg?v=1761057232"},{"product_id":"modeling-water-quality-in-distribution-systems-book-robert-m-clark-9781583218167","title":"Modeling Water Quality in Distribution Systems","description":"Water quality modeling is a powerful tool to help in understanding the processes and factors that influence water quality in potable water distribution systems. Updated and expanded from the 1998 edition, this book will help you set up a realistic mathematical simulation of your distribution system and your water quality to let you determine the fate of contaminants as they travel through the distribution system. Chapters outline the major elements involved in water quality modeling and the development of applications of water quality models.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52660787249425,"sku":"NLS9781583218167","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52751552413969,"sku":"NIN9781583218167","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781583218167.jpg?v=1762265998"},{"product_id":"handbook-of-water-and-wastewater-systems-protection-book-robert-m-clark-9781461401889","title":"Handbook of Water and Wastewater Systems Protection","description":"Following the events of 9\/11, the Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency created the Water Protection Task Force (WPTF), which identified water and wastewater systems as a major area of vulnerability to deliberate attack. The WPTF suggested that there are steps that can be taken to reduce these vulnerabilities and to make it as difficult as possible for potential saboteurs to succeed. The WPTF recommended that be scrutinized with renewed vigor to secure water and wastewater systems against these possible threats. It also recommended that water and wastewater systems have a response plan in place in the event an act of terrorism occurs. The WPTF identified water distribution networks as an area of special vulnerability and highlighted the need for rapid on-line detection methods that are accurate and have a wide detection range. As a result of these recommendations novel technologies from various fields of science and engineering are now addressing water security issues and water and wastewater utilities are looking for innovative solutions. Once such technologies are available, there will be a rapid implementation process that will present many business opportunities for the private sector. However, in addition to terrorist threats water and wastewater systems are inherently vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. This volume will address the problems associated with both intended terrorist attacks and natural disasters affecting water or wastewater systems. The book is divided into parts based on the kinds of threats facing water and wastewater systems: (1) a direct attack on water and wastewater infrastructure storage reservoirs, and distribution and collection networks; (2) a cyber attack disabling the functionality of the water and wastewater systems or taking over control of key components which might result in system failures; and (3) a deliberate chemical or biological contaminant injection at one of the waterdistribution system’s nodes. It will examine unique plans, technological and managerial innovations for protecting such systems, and includes descriptions of projects that were implemented to respond to natural disasters. Case studies are presented that discuss existing projects and evaluate their performance, with an emphasis on providing guidelines and techniques that can be implemented by water and wastewater planners and managers to deal with natural and manmade disasters should they occur.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52674253029649,"sku":"NLS9781461401889","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9781461401889.jpg?v=1762299114"},{"product_id":"securing-water-and-wastewater-systems-book-robert-m-clark-9783319010915","title":"Securing Water and Wastewater Systems","description":"It also addresses the new and potentially growing issue of cyber attacks against water and waste water infrastructure including descriptions of actual attacks, making it of interest to scholars and policy-makers concerned with protecting the water supply.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":52675083796753,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52675085533457,"sku":"NLS9783319010915","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9783319010915.jpg?v=1762301088"},{"product_id":"handbook-of-water-and-wastewater-systems-protection-book-robert-m-clark-9781461429845","title":"Handbook of Water and Wastewater Systems Protection","description":"Following the events of 9\/11, the Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency created the Water Protection Task Force (WPTF), which identified water and wastewater systems as a major area of vulnerability to deliberate attack.
