It provides a high-resolution archaeological and paleoecological picture og the organisation of landscapes, settlements and households during the period 1500-700 BC. By combining the results of paleoenvironmental research, extensive field surveys and excavations of archaeological sites with exceptional preservation, it links the histories of local farmsteads in Thy with wider developments and events in the Bronze Age of northwest Europe.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ LIKE_NEW \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":49664047022353,"sku":"GOR013572248","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8793423225.jpg?v=1781777917"},{"product_id":"illerup-adal-13-book-xenia-pauli-jensen-9788788415629","title":"Illerup Adal 13","description":null,"brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49739094851857,"sku":"NGR9788788415629","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8788415627.jpg?v=1757416101"},{"product_id":"danish-archaeological-investigations-on-failaka-kuwait-the-second-millennium-set-book-ann-andersson-9788793423725","title":"Danish Archaeological Investigations on Failaka, Kuwait. The Second Millennium Settlements, vol. 5","description":"Excavations in 1958-1963 on the island of Failaka in Kuwait uncovered a small community of Dilmun traders from the second millennium BC. Prominent among the finds were 629 beads, most of them made of semi-precious stone, such as different varieties of chalcedony (agate, carnelian, jasper, and moss agate) and quartz (rock crystal, milky quartz, and smoky quartz), and a range of other stone types, such as calcite, chlorite, lapis lazuli, turquoise and porphyry. Additionally, part of the beads was made of glass: a new prestige material of the second millennium. The study consists of a typology, a classification of materials and an analysis of the dating and distribution of the beads. Manufacturing techniques, including perforation and use-wear, are also considered. In a final discussion, the bead corpus from Failaka is compared with similar material from contemporary sites on Failaka and in Bahrain, along with some thoughts on connections and trade relations, which may be inferred from the materials and forms in the bead assemblage. The study proposes far-reaching connections with the Indus in the east and the Aegean in the west.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49740923207953,"sku":"NGR9788793423725","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8793423721.jpg?v=1757416730"},{"product_id":"northern-emporium-vol-1-book-soren-sindbaek-9788793423749","title":"Northern Emporium Vol 1","description":"In the early Middle Ages, a network of maritime trading towns - emporia - emerged along the northern coasts of Europe. These early urban sites are among archaeology's most notable contributions to our knowledge of the period between the disintegration of the Western Roman Empire and the growth of a maritime-oriented world in the Viking Age. Ribe, on the western coast of Denmark, is one of these sites. In 2017-18 the Northern Emporium research project conducted seminal research excavations, which provided new foundations for the study of this nodal point between Western Europe, Scandinavia, and the world beyond. This first volume presents the results of these excavations and analyses to piece together the history of the emporium and its social fabric. The research employs novel, high-definition methods to explore the networks of the site, integrating an extensive use of geoarchaeology and 3D stratigraphic recording with intensive environmental sampling and artefact recovery, resulting in more than 100,000 artefact finds. The results transform our understanding of key points of the early history of the North Sea region. Through the remains of dwellings and workshops - the traces left by traders, sailors, weavers, tailors, comb makers, and skilled producers of glass beads and metal ornaments - we follow the creation of Viking Age social networks, along with some of the most iconic artistic products of this world and the daily lives of some of its notable inhabitants.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49744563896593,"sku":"NGR9788793423749","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51748116431121,"sku":"GOR014389866","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8793423748.jpg?v=1781777938"},{"product_id":"tybrind-vig-book-soren-h-andersen-9788788415780","title":"Tybrind Vig","description":"Publication of an underwater excavation of a significant Western Danish Ertebolle settlement in the Little Belt in Denmark. It was only after four months of arduous searching that the Triers found the Mlabri in the mountain jungles. From 1977 to 1994 they stayed with two Mlabri tribes and carried out intensive field studies. The results of these studies are presented in this book under four main headings: Material and social culture; The supernatural world; The Mlabri language; The prayers. Until now only a few descriptions of the Mlabri have been published, and their spiritual world has never before been studied and described in such detail as in this work by Jesper Trier. Today only c. 300 Mlabri remain in the hills of Northern Thailand and Laos. Their culture has changed, however, because of contact with the outside world. Invoking the Spirits describes the culture of a people whose numbers are rapidly declining.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51328810352913,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":51328815235345,"sku":"CIN8788415473G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8788415473.jpg?v=1751097486"},{"product_id":"sosdala-horsemen-and-the-equestrian-elite-in-fifth-century-europe-book-charlotte-fabech-9788793423152","title":"The Sosdala Horsemen and the Equestrian Elite in Fifth Century Europe","description":"Sosdala is a famous name in European archaeology of the Migration Period. But the fame of the name has thrown the find itself in deep shade. This is surprising since it contains mounts from an exquisitely decorated parade bridle, the closest parallels to which are found in Austria, Poland, Romania and Ukraine. The craftsmanship equals the best Late Roman metalwork. The content of the Sosdala finds reveal that Scandinavians were involved in the turmoil when the Late Roman Empire disintegrated. The context, depositions of dismantled horse tack in gravel ridges, is explainable with reference to Nomadic funerary rituals. Based on new scholarly studies and scientific analyses a European team of scholars places Sosdala in its European setting. The book is concluded by full catalogues of three finds of horse tack from Sosdala and Fulltofta. The papers in English have resumes and captions in Russian.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51682287649041,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ VERY_GOOD \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":51682288140561,"sku":"GOR014348961","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/8793423152.jpg?v=1751000762"},{"product_id":"dwellings-identities-homes-book-mette-svart-kristiansen-9788788415896","title":"Dwellings, Identities \u0026 Homes","description":"The study of houses, dwellings, homes and identities is a rapidly-expanding field within medieval archaeology. This volume is about the many non-military finds, such as dice for board games, beads, jewellery, amulets, etc. - things that the soldiers have worn as jewellery around their necks, or in purses on their belts. These items therefore give a unique insight into the soldiers' everyday lives, their appearance and identity. Illerup vol. 15 differs from the previous volumes by emphasising the Eastern European items. Much of the jewellery and the amulets show close connections to the current Poland and Ukraine, and the beads are the kind produced by the Roman Empire's boarder on the Continent. The Eastern European items have not previously been accessibly to a Scandinavian audience. This is therefore a unique chance to get an insight into the trade relations and military alliances that we (because of modern boarders) have found difficult to identify. With vol. 15, the publication of the almost 16,000 items found at Illerup Adal is done. The publication is one of the most influential in Danish Iron Age research and is being used and cited as an absolute principal work for researchers across the globe. At the same time, the find is also known by ordinary people, who have had the opportunity to enjoy the great and popular presentations and as well as the new exhibition at Moesgaard Museum.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ INTERNAL","offer_id":53203921568017,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":53203921666321,"sku":"NGR9788793423398","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9788793423398.jpg?v=1781778386"},{"product_id":"nydam-mose-book-rieck-flemming-9788788415773","title":"Nydam Mose","description":"When The Danish National Museum in the 1990s excavated the Nydam bog in Southern Denmark discoveries were made that shed new light on the famous Nydam oak boat and remains of two more boats were found.
