David Helvarg is the founder and president of the Blue Frontier Campaign, a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that promotes ocean and coastal protection. He has written for the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Smithsonian, Popular Science, Sierra, and The Nation, as well as producing over forty documentaries for PBS, the Discovery Channel, and other outlets. He's also a scuba diver, a licensed private investigator, and a body surfer. He lives near San Francisco Bay and is the author of The Battle Against the Greens, Blue Frontier, and 50 Strategies to Preserve the Ocean.
