American Horticultural Society Encyclopedia of Gardening by Christopher Brickell

Elvin McDonald, a lifelong gardener, is an editor at large for Better Homes & Gardens. McDonald, who received the Hutchinson Medal for lifetime achievement from the Chicago Horticultural Society, was also inducted into the Garden Writers Association Hall of Fame and has created gardens for celebrities and government agencies across the country. Hundreds of gardening books have been written, edited, photographed, or published by him, earning him the moniker Dean of American Garden Editors. McDonald is a resident of Des Moines, Iowa.
