Jay is a native of New Orleans who graduated from Louisiana State University Medical Center with a master's degree in physical therapy. He teaches in the University of Virginia's Sports Medicine department and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency. Jay is a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist and a United States Track and Field Association and United States Cycling Federation certified coach. He is frequently published in professional journals on running gait and biomechanics, gives national seminars on the treatment of endurance athletes to clinicians and coaches, and conducts research on runners.
Jay has competed in local and national swimming, triathlon, cycling, and running events, and has coached competitors ranging from local standouts to national medalists. His passion is to assist athletes reach their greatest potential by integrating his personal, clinical, and scientific interests.
