Antimicrobial Chemotherapy by David Greenwood
Improper use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents is threatening to render these drugs ineffective. This book is aimed at medical students and medical practitioners in the developed and developing world, and seeks to encourage good prescribing habits in the management of all types of infection.
This is probably as good an account of the rationale and basis of antimicrobial chemotherapy as it is possible to get in less than 500 pagesDavid Greenwood has recruited contributors who not only are experts in their field, but also can communicate well. The format is deceptively simple and modest, but no opportunity is wasted. It is refreshing to read an account of this very diverse and sometimes complex area that avoids jargon and unnecessary detail yet never insults the reader's intelligence. Do read this book. As a guide to the drugs we use it is very informative; as a guide to why we use them, how we use them and how much better we could use them, it is invaluable. Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
