This text provides conditioning advice and training techniques specific to the physiological, biomechanical and anatomical needs of female athletes. It features exercises and drills to increase strength, power, speed, quickness and agility.
David Oliver was the conditioning coach for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team and served as the strength and conditioning consultant to the U.S. Women's National Basketball Team. He has worked at the high school, college, professional and Olympic levels as a coach and athletic trainer for over 15 years. A certified member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Oliver has written articles for Men's Health, Men's Journal, Women's Health and Fitness and numerous other publications. He has also been featured in Women's Sports Illustrated and Conditioning for Women's Basketball, and is co-author of Conditioning The NBA Way and NBA Power Conditioning. Dana Healy is the strength and conditioning co-ordinator for the U.S. Olympic Training Committee (OTC). She designs and implements strength and conditioning programmes for resident athletes at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as for off-site teams. She has trained numerous Olympic and world medallists.
