Charlotte Delbo joined the Communist Youth movement in 1932, then the Resistance, but she and her husband were captured by the French police special brigades on March 2, 1942. She was sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau alongside 230 other women, the majority of whom were Resistance members. Only 49 people showed up.
