Following a 15-year career in advertising, Chang Sheng began releasing his own comic and manga titles in 2004. Not only did Yan win Best Comic at the Golden Comic Awards (2023), but The Hidden Level won the Grand Prize at the 2017 Kyoto International Manga Awards (Taiwan Category). In 2026, Yan earned two Eisner nominations.
