Bear and Bird by Gwen Millward
Bear and Bird were best friends. They lived together in a house Bear had made for them, in the middle of a beautiful forest. One very cold evening, Bird put all the firewood they had gathered on to the fire. Bear gave a deep sigh and went out into the snowy night to collect some more... but hours passed and Bear had not returned.
Gwen Millward Gwen Millward has always been fascinated by animals and insects. When she was very small her parents would often find her at the bottom of the garden, covered in mud and studying the tiny creatures that lived under stones. She studied illustration at Edinburgh University and has since gone on to win the Booktrust Early Years Award in the Pre-school category for The Bog Baby (written by Jeanne Willis). Gwen is the daughter of Jenny Nimmo and artist David Millward.
