The Bear Kingdom: The Howling Tower by Michael Coleman
The first story in a fantastic new trilogy, "The Howling Tower" follows Benjamin Wildfire, the feisty protagonist, who runs away from his cruel bear owner with mad Mops, the girl-next-door. They are determined to find the fabled Hide Park (a place where it's said humans run free) but instead they are caught by a sap-catcher (saps are what bears call humans) and taken to Howling-Tower, a prison-like place of training, and it turns out, evil experimentation. It takes all of Benjamin's ingenuity to survive, but will he manage to escape?
Michael Coleman was born in Forest Gate, East London and has been a full-time writer since 2003. Michael Coleman's other older novels for Orchard Books include Weirdo's War, shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal and Lancashire Children's Book Award, The Snog Log, Going Straight and Tag.
