He became a pastor in 2001 and was the founder of the Gospel of Grace Food & Clothing Bank and the Lion of Judah ministries. Pastor Jacobsen also served as the Prayer Coordinator for Yavapai County in Arizona for several years. Reared a Lutheran, John became a pastor in a Pentecostal church and now considers himself to be non-denominational.

John Jacobsen, a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, spent fifteen years as a ship's officer on cargo and passenger ships navigating the world's oceans. Jacobsen is now the chairman of the Biscayne Bay Pilots and a harbor pilot in the Port of Miami. He currently resides in Miami, Florida.
