Beyond the Fairways by Dai Davies

In this text, the authors begin at the beginning - in 15th century Scotland - and chart the rise of golf, which, from humble origins, has become a billion-dollar industry. They draw not only on their own experiences and observations, but also a selection of timeless articles from golf's literary elite - Henry Longhurst and Peter Dobereiner among them.
Dai Davies has been the golf correspondent of the Guardian for the last 12 years, having succeeded Peter Dobereiner and, before him, Pat Ward-Thomas. Since giving up law journalism to become golf correspondent of the Birmingham Post in 1966, he has experienced a daily diet of golf in all its forms, from pro to amateur, men's and women's, seniors and juniors.
