Bog Bodies by Natalie Jane Prior

Human bodies frozen in time reveal amazing stories from the past. This book, shortlisted for the Eve Pownall Award for Information Books, Children's Book Council Book of the Year Awards in 1995, offers a look at preserved people of the past. It includes incredible true stories about the bog bodies of northern Europe. Egyptian mummies, the 5300-year-old Ice Man, and many others, which give unique insights into life lived hundreds, even thousands, of years ago. There are colour photos of human remains, and things to make and do. Packed with gruesome facts, tragic stories, and remarkable tales of scientific discovery, the book aims to bring the world of archaeology alive.
Natalie Jane Prior wrote Bog Bodies because she has always been fascinated by archaeology. She has published four other books with Allen + Unwin. Her first book, The Paw, (illustrated by Terry Denton) was shortlisted for the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award in 1994.
