British Museum Birds Gift Book by Mavis Pilbeam
Birds are perhaps the most familiar of all animals, living so close to humans, providing companionship with song or with their endlessly active presence. This anthology contains images that are accompanied by a poem or extract from writers, including Shakespeare, Chaucer and Wordsworth along with contributions from less familiar writers.
Mavis Pilbeam recently retired as Librarian in the Japanese Section of the Department of Asia in the British Museum and is the author of several books for children as well as The British Museum Little Book of Cats. She is also a keen birdwatcher and a Life Member of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. She belongs to the Wild Bird Society of Japan and the London Natural History Society.
