A personal account of the 1960s from the director of the Open Space Theatre. The text is interspersed with cameos and reminiscences of the people Marowitz worked with and knew, such as Harold Pinter, Spike Milligan, Glenda Jackson and Joe Orton.Charles Marowitz is the artistic director of the Malibu Stage Company and co-director of the Royal Shakespeare Company Experimental Group with Peter Brook. Many West End productions under his direction include world debuts of works by Saul Bellow, Joe Orton, and Sam Shepard. His free Shakespeare adaptations have been published all around the world and compiled in The Marowitz Shakespeare. Marowitz has served as the Los Angeles Times' Drama Critic in Chief. He has been a contributor to a number of periodicals, including the Herald Examiner. He has also taught Professional Acting Seminars at Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Wiesabden, Oslo, and Stockholm, as well as colleges, universities, and drama schools around the United Kingdom.
