Running in Literature is one of his many works as an editor and author. He was a senior writer for Running Times and contributes to Runner's World and Canadian Running on a regular basis. He is an emeritus professor of English at New Zealand's Victoria University. Roger and his wife, women's running activist Kathrine Switzer, split their time between New Paltz, New York, and Wellington, New Zealand.
