Celebrating Nurses takes readers on a fascinating journey through the history of this vital profession from the viewpoint of the people that make it all happen, the nurses themselves. Illuminating pictures, historic letters, fascinating facts, stories and interviews with famous nurses past and present combine to tell the story of nursing through the centuries. Each chapter reveals how nursing was perceived in the culture of the time, what education nurses underwent, the changing nature of a nurses work, and how nurses contributed to, and were affected by, advances in technology. Additional feature spreads look at topics which cross the centuries, such as uniforms, war nursing, and much more. Featuring a foreword from the President of the Royal College of Nursing.
