Chariots of Fire by Mike Bartlett
1924. The Paris Olympic Games.
A devout Scottish Christian runs for the glory of God. The son of an immigrant Lithuanian Jew runs to overcome prejudice. Two young track athletes who live for the beautiful purity of running and who prevail in the face of overwhelming odds.
Based on the extraordinary true story of Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, Chariots of Fire is an Olympic tale of hope, honour and belief.
My Child (Royal Court, May 2007), Mike Barlett's debut, was lauded by The Stage as one of the most intriguing young talents to emerge in recent times. Since graduating, he has worked at Paines Plough, the Royal Court, Soho, and Hampstead, among others. He won the Old Vic New Voices Prize for Artefacts (Bush Theatre, February 2008) and is currently a member of the Pearson Playwrights Program. For his radio play Not Talking, he received the Tinniswood and Imison awards from the Writers Guild.
