Charles Dickens in Love by Robert Garnett

In celebration of the bicentennial, here is Charles Dickens as you have never seen him before: An intimate and engaging portrait of the great author and the women he loved
“Today there is no escaping Charles DickensNot that there has ever been much chance of that before. He has a deep, peculiar hold upon us. Dickens gives us a sense of wholeness that we lack. He doesn’t merely mirror life, he improves it. We sit entranced at his feet, safe in his stories; and when we come out, we have tools to help us guard against the dark.” -- The Daily Telegraph, on the Charles Dickens bicentennial
“To conceal anything from those to whom I am attached, is not in my nature. I can never close my lips where I have opened my heart.” -- Charles Dickens
Robert Garnett is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia (Ph.D.), and currently Professor of English at Gettysburg College. He has been researching Dickens for over a dozen years, has presented papers on him at many academic conferences, and has published articles on his life and novels in scholarly journals such as Dickens Quarterly and Dickens Studies Annual.
