She is a senior research fellow at Birkbeck College, University of London, and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, as well as a fellow of the British Psychological Society and a visiting professor at Winchester University. She has served on the American Institute for Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies' Professional Advisory Council, the Sesame Street Curriculum Board, as a consultant editor for Child magazine, vice president of the Health Visitors' Association, and president and chair of the Child Development Society.
