Collected Short Stories (Esprios Classics) by Stanley G Weinbaum
Stanley Grauman Weinbaum (1902 -1935) was an American science fiction writer. His career in science fiction was short but influential. His first story, A Martian Odyssey, was published to great acclaim in July 1934; the alien Tweel was arguably the first character to satisfy John W. Campbell's challenge: Write me a creature who thinks as well as a man, or better than a man, but not like a man. Weinbaum wrote more short stories and a few novels, but died from lung cancer less than a year and a half later. Most of the work that was published in his lifetime appeared in either Astounding or Wonder Stories. However, several of Weinbaum's pieces first appeared in the early fanzine Fantasy Magazine in the 1930s.Stanley Grauman Weinbaum was an American science fiction author who lived from 1902 to 1935. His first story, A Martian Odyssey, was widely acclaimed when it was published in July 1934, but he died of lung disease less than a year later. He is best known for A Martian Odyssey, a landmark science fiction short story in which he introduced Tweel, a sympathetic but obviously non-human alien. This was also his first science fiction narrative (he had sold a romance book, The Lady Dances, to King Features Syndicate in 1933, and the story was syndicated in their newspapers in early 1934). Before John W. Campbell, Issac Asimov described A Martian Odyssey as a superb Campbellian science fiction narrative.
