Cooking at De Gustibus at Macy's by Arlene Sailhac
This unique cookbook and culinary history celebrates 25 years of the De Gustibus at Macy's cooking school, a renowned culinary venue that has featured demonstration classes by all the major food and wine luminaries. Arlene has organized the book chronologically, and has selected recipes that highlight ingredients or techniques that were innovative in each time period. With more than 100 archival photos of the chefs and teachers, as well as fun sidebars and new food photos, the book is a visual treat as well.
Arlene Feltman Sailhac was originally trained as a speech pathologist, and taught at City College in New York City for several years. She started De Gustibus at Macy's in Herald Square in 1980 with just 6 classes a year. The program today encompasses more than 120 classes annually. Arlene is married to chef Alain Sailhac, one of the first De Gustibus teachers, and they live in New York.
