Julia Bell worked as a DJ before becoming a responsible adult and landing a job. She presently works as a writer, editor, and tutor at the University of East Anglia, where she also runs the tiny publisher Pen & Ink. With Jackie Grey, she coedited Hard Shoulder (Trindal Street Press, 1999) and England Calling (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 2001), and with Paul Magrs, she coedited The Creative Writing Coursebook (MacMillan, 2001).
