Teed, knew the West Indies first hand from his first travels to the south and the beginnings of his wanderlust. Haiti is today more than 100 years older than when this story first appeared in London but its progress since those days is non-apparent. The quote below appears on the cover and seems to be a double entendre; Union Jack Library was well received by soldiers at the front, and of course it appeared weekly in the newsstands around the world in 1917.
