Diaries by Edwin Waterhouse

These memoirs of Edwin Waterhouse, a founder partner of the firm Price, Waterhouse & Co, cover the period 1841 - 1917 and contain many previously unpublished photographs. The memoirs are the first documented record of a senior accountant, his family and social surroundings. Based on his private and business diaries, family papers and journals, the memoirs cover Edwin's achievements in obtaining some of the more prestigious clients of his day, together with his work in investigating labyrinthine frauds. The careers of his two brothers, Alfred Waterhouse the architect, and Theodore the solicitor, are also revealed at every stage of their development. The manuscript lay undiscovered for nearly 70 years until it was uncovered by a Price Waterhouse archivist in 1985. Edgar Jones is a professional historian whose previous books include "Industrial Architecture" and "Accountancy and the British Economy (1840 - 1980)".
